Best School Districts in America

The National Council for Home Safety and Security recently announced the "Best School Districts in America." While no area schools made the top ten, there were Kansas schools on the list.

1.  Naperville CUSD 203, Naperville, Illinois     
2.  Morton CUSD, Morton, Illinois    
3.  Lexington Public Schools, Lexington, Massachusetts     
4.  Gilbert Unified School District, Gilbert, Arizona     
5.  Westford Public Schools, Westford, Massachusetts     
6.  West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District, Windsor, New Jersey     
7.  Wauconda CUSD 118, Wauconda, Illinois     
8.   Winchester Public Schools, Winchester, Massachusetts     
9.   Westwood Public Schools, Westwood, Massachusetts     
10.  Shrewsbury Public Schools, Shrewsbury, Massachusetts
131. Waconda  USD 272, Cawker City, KS
185. Blue Valley USD 229, Overland Park, KS
269. Spring Hill USD 230, Spring Hill, KS
336. Desoto USD 232, Desoto, KS
340. Andover USD 385, Andover, KS

According to the press release sent to the Gazette, they collected data from a total of 9,577 school districts. Considering the following factors to compile the rankings. Those factors include student performance (math and reading test scores), dropout rates, school funding, and area poverty rates.  Some districts, including those from Connecticut, were excluded due to incomplete data.   The report was formally released on January 22, 2018.   The National Council for Home Safety and Security is a trade association comprised of home security professionals across the United States. The council advocates for safe communities and home safety with a strong focus on community involvement. Find more information here.
