Fireworks Galore

Kevin Surbaugh

Baldwin City area residents have four, yes, count them four, fireworks stands to choose from. All four stands are lined along Highway 56, aka Ames, once again for the Independence Day Holiday weekend. Most all of the stands opened for sales at 8 A.M. on Saturday July 1, 2017.

Just up the road a little ways in the parking lot of Callahan's Liquors, is Garrett's Fireworks operated by a family who says they are raising funds for their "kids college fund." That stand is located at Highway 56 and Eisenhower.

Pryo's Pappa's is a family company with stands in Gardner and Baldwin City. The Baldwin City stand is at Seventh and Ames (Highway 56) where it has been set up since 2011.

Across the street in the parking lot of the Baldwin City Market (Sixth and Ames), the Knights of Columbus has once again set up its stand with it's annual fireworks stand. The Knights of Columbus have been selling fireworks in Baldwin City since 1999. All proceeds raised by the local Knights of Columbus stays local.

On the night of the Fourth the Baldwin City Recreation Commission will once again be offering the cities Fireworks display. They will be shooting the fireworks from the ball fields at dusk, about 9:30 P.M.
