WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Number 10 Baker Wins 8th-Straight Heart Game with Victory at Evangel

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The scorching hot number 10 Baker University women's basketball team won its 8th-straight Heart of America Athletic Conference game on Wednesday night, as they captured a road win at Evangel, 67-55.

With the win, Baker moves to 21-4 and 19-2 in Heart play, while Evangel ended a two-game winning streak and fell to 10-14 overall and 9-12 in the conference.

Baker is now set to take on fellow first place number 12 Benedictine this Saturday, February 11 at 2 p.m. in Atchison, Kansas.

The Ravens have won 13-straight Heart games and are 20-5 overall and 19-2 in the Heart. Winner takes sole possession of first place with a win.

Baker outscored the Crusaders, 17-12, and 13-11, in the first and second quarter's respectively, leading at the break, 30-23.

The 'Cats continued to stretch their lead coming out of halftime, leading by as many as twelve points in the third quarter.

In the final period, Baker outscored Evangel, 20-18, propelling them to their eighth-consecutive conference victory.

Senior forward Kelsey Larson led Baker in scoring on the night, recording 15 points. Two other 'Cats made it into double figures on the night as Anna Hignight recorded 14 points, and Jessica Zweifel scored 10.

Baker outrebounded the Crusaders, 47-34, led by Courtney Hoag who grabbed ten boards. Hoag also recorded eight points, nearly giving her a double-double on the night.

The 'Cats shot 40.7 percent from the field, while holding the Crusaders to just 30.6 percent shooting for the game.
