"Community Blood Center must collect almost 600 units of blood daily to meet the needs of area hospital patients. As there is no substitute for blood, we rely on volunteer donors like you to supply the life-saving blood and blood components to hospitals in Kansas and Missouri."

In 1914, Langston Hughes was a seventh grader in Lawrence, Kansas. Segregation in his classroom prompted Hughes to respond with an act of civil disobedience. A new documentary short film looks at how Hughes' experiences as a child in Lawrence, including his episode in the classroom, shaped his work as one of the greatest American writers of the 20th century.
The Langston's Lawrence documentary short film was produced by the Watkins Museum of History and the Dream Documentary Collective with the support of a KHC Humanities grant. The film premieres on Friday, January 27 at the Watkins Museum of History in Lawrence
