MEN'S BASKETBALL: Javeion Gray Eclipses 1,000 Career Points in Loss at Mt. Mercy

BALDWIN CITY, Kansas – The Baker University men’s basketball team fell at Mount Mercy, 82-71, on Saturday afternoon.

The Wildcats are now 5-5 overall and 3-4 in Heart play, while Mount Mercy moves to 5-4 and 4-3 in conference action.

Mt. Mercy used a big first half to propel a 45-29 halftime lead and held the Wildcats to 38.7-percent from the field.

Javeion Gray led the team in scoring with 15 points and eclipsed the 1,000 career point mark in the contest, as he now has 1,007 career points in his impressive four-year career with the ‘Cats.

Clae Martin netted 14 points and Daniel Young scored 10. Gray finished with a double-double with 10 rebounds as well.

Mount Mercy made 11 three-point field goals and caused 19 Baker turnovers. The Mustangs defense held Baker to just 7-of-24 from three-point range and the Wildcats caused 14 Mustang turnovers.

Baker will next take on (RV) Benedictine on Saturday, December 10 at 4 p.m. inside the Collins Center on Baker Alumni Day.
