Baker Men's Basketball Runs Past (RV) William Woods, 78-60

COLUMBIA, Missouri – The Baker University men’s basketball team moved to 2-1 on Saturday, as they defeated (RV) William Woods, 78-60, in day two of the Columbia College Classic Tournament.

The Wildcat defense was sharp, holding the Owls to just 35.1-percent from the floor and 22.2-percent from three-point land on 4-of-18 shooting.

Baker outscored WWU, 49-36, in the first half and 29-24 in the second. The Owls fall to 1-2 with the loss.

2015-16 Heart Freshman of the Year Clae Martin led Baker in scoring with 13 points and knocked in three, three-point field goals. Senior Taylor Johnson matched him with three, three-point field goals as well on 3-of-4 shooting from behind the arc.

Brett Elifritz and Johnson each scored 10 points and Tyrome Parker led the squad in rebounding with eight.

Baker dominated the boards, outrebounding the Owls, 53-38. Like Friday night against number 6 Columbia, 11 different Wildcats scored.

BU hit 12 three-point field goals as a team and had 14 more assists than William Woods, as Baker finished with 18 and WWU had four.

The Wildcats will open up Heart play next Saturday, November 12 at 2 p.m. at Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa.
