July 19th Friends of the Library event

The Friends of the Baldwin City Library will be hosting a program on Tuesday, July 19th at 7 p.m.  Storyteller Robin Schulte will be presenting the program "PreTV: The Powerful Art of Storytelling" at the Baldwin City Library, 7th and High, Baldwin City, KS. Cool refreshments will be available.
Schulte's presentation will be a potpourri program highlighting the powerful art of story by featuring a collection of folktales and literary pieces designed to recall popular pre-TV entertainment. It was a time when people gathered around the radio for the evening and used their imaginations to create the pictures and story. The program will also include a Ray Bradbury piece set in the 1930s.
Schulte, who was formerly a Kansas resident, now lives in Orlando, FL. She discovered storytelling as a high school English and Speech teacher more than 20 years ago. Schulte now is a full time storyteller, dividing her time between solo performances and a tandem story partnership, Tales Two Tell, with storyteller Autumn Huff Garick. She has been a featured performer at Florida's Cracker Festival and was featured as part of Tales Two Tell at 2014 Florida StoryFest. While in the area, she will participate in the National Storytelling Network Annual Conference in Kansas City, MO also.
